Claiming prices adjusted for amateur races at Oak Grove

Columbus, OH — The United States Harness Drivers Club (USHDC), in conjunction with Oak Grove Racing, is alerting horsemen to a change in the amateur race conditions for the Kentucky track’s upcoming meet. Oak Grove will race from April 16 through July 2, with amateur races being offered on every Sunday card.

Amateur races will be pacing events conducted under two conditions. Class 1 will reflect a $12,000 claiming price with an identical $12,000 purse, while Class 2 will carry a $9,000 claiming tag and a $10,000 purse. Both will contain an also-eligible condition to be determined by the Oak Grove racing office.

Previously, the claiming prices were announced as $16,000 and $12,000, respectively.

USTA “A” and “P” drivers that fit the “10 Year Rule” will be eligible to compete. The 10 Year Rule stipulates that an amateur driver is one who has never accepted any valuable consideration by way of (or in lieu of) his/her services as a driver during the past 10 years. Drivers that have received driver compensation within that time frame may be allowed to pay those fees to an approved charitable organization to come into compliance with the rule. Drivers must be licensed by the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission and be members in good standing of the Kentucky Harness Association, U.S. Trotting Association, and United States Harness Drivers Club.
