Fort Washington, MD — All-age track record holder College Tuition took his preferred path to victory in Thursday’s (April 16) $12,000 Open Handicap Trot at Rosecroft Raceway, wiring his six foes in a personal seasonal-best 1:53.2.

In line to Russell Foster, College Tuition used a :26.3 first quarter to seat Inferno DK (driven by Roger Plante Jr.) in the pocket before pulling the half back to :56.3. After his mid-race breather, the 8-year-old Donato Hanover gelding had no trouble parrying a first-over challenge from Deadline Hall (Eric Davis) past three-quarters in 1:24.4 and through the far turn before evading pocket foe Inferno DK by 1-1/2 lengths to score the 29th win of his career. Inferno DK narrowly saved second over Deadline Hall, who flattened after his uncovered bid.
Courtney Foster trains College Tuition, who competes as a homebred for Eric Foster and paid $6 to win as the 2-1 second choice.
While neither of his charges in the Open were successful, trainer Michael Hall accounted for three wins on the 13-race program, scoring with Yall Just Love Me (1:56.3, Jonathan Roberts, $2.60), Wise Professor (1:51.3, William Carter, $7.40) and Villannah (1:54.3, Roberts, $2.40).
Live harness racing returns to Rosecroft on Monday (April 20) with another 13-race card and a Jackpot Hi-5 carryover of $8,067.68. First post is 7:15 p.m. (EDT).
