Da Delightful holds off rivals, scores in MADC event at the Big M

East Rutherford, NJ — With a ton of rain on Saturday (March 23), the first race on the card found the track upgraded to good with a negative one variant.  The MADC only had one race on the card but a ton of action to the quarter with horses parked on the outer rim made for some non-stop positioning throughout the mile.

After a fractious scramble to the first quarter that only went up in a soft :28 for this group, Da Delightful (Mark Silva) found his way to the lead and never relinquished that spot.  He wasn’t able to settle down his pacer, who went a second quarter in :27.1 and a third quarter in :27.2 but it didn’t matter on this evening.

He drew off in the stretch to win by 4 over the pocket sitter and longshot, Random Hanover (Cote Keim) who held second by a nose over Yer So Bad (Anthony Verruso).  The final time over the good track was an eye-popping 1:51.3. The 8-year old horse is owned, trained and reigned by Silva out of NJ.

The MADC will be back next week on Friday and possibly Saturday.  Post time is scheduled for 6:20 p.m.
