Darke Co. Fair Fan Appreciation Night on Sunday

Greenville, OH — Join us this Sunday (Aug. 20) at the Darke County Fair, first post at 5 p.m., and give us the opportunity to honor you, our fantastic fans. Not only will there be 15 exciting races, but we will be giving away some wonderful prizes.

Everyone in attendance will receive a free raffle ticket. To obtain your ticket or prize go to the race giveaway windows next to the pari-mutuel windows. Starting after race three and going through race 14 we will be drawing for large gift bags donated by Beauty Supply Group; a raffle ticket giving the winner a chance to win the Gator being raffled by the Darke County Fair; and to make it even better, we will be giving away 12 50” TVs.

You must be present to win and have until the pari-mutuel window closes on the next race to claim your prize. If no one claims, we will draw two after the next race.

We will also be celebrating the 50th anniversary of our track announcer Doug Ballinger. Everyone who purchases a program will receive a special edition baseball card honoring Doug. This card is sure to become a collector’s item as it will be the first card of a series. These will also be given out at the race giveaway windows.

Sunday evening races will include four splits of the Ohio Colt Racing and the Rhys Bowman Signature Series Trot. Admission to the grandstand is free on Sunday.

Racing will continue on Wednesday evening with an overnight card. Post time will be immediately following the Veteran’s Program at approximately 7:45 p.m.

We will close out our meet on Thursday (Aug. 24). First post is at 6:30 p.m. Thursday night will, once again, be the night of nights for Ohio fans. The Greenville Municipal Concert Band will be performing in the grandstand. We will be having the splits of the Parshall Memorial Stakes, The Annie Oakley Shoot Out and The Great Lake Amateur Driving Association as both a trot and a pace. To complete the night, we will be having the Gene Riegle Memorial and the Arnie Almahurst Trot.

The Gene Riegle Memorial promises to be an exciting race again this year and has already attracted some great horses including the famous Charlie May.

As in the past, with each paid program, you will receive the next Riegle Memorial series glass that shows all the winners. This year’s glass will be a draft style glass in the famous Riegle chartreuse.

Make plans to attend each session. To quote Roger Huston, “Don’t get shut out.”
