Northfield, OH — The 2024 campaign has been an up and down season for driver Billy Davis Jr., but he has continued to persevere through it all and on Sunday (Nov. 10) at MGM Northfield Park he earned his 4,000th career victory.
A native of Canada, Davis recently returned from injuries sustained in an accident earlier this season.
Davis entered Sunday needing two victories to achieve the milestone, and he wasted no time getting the first one by winning the opening race with Smothastenesewisky.
Tye Loy trainee Jillian B Miki would give Davis his 4,000th career victory as she won in upset fashion against conditioned company.
Davis elected to be conservative with Jillian B Miki, getting off the wings in sixth after several leavers tussled for position. Davis rode the coattails of Always Gonna B You (Aaron Merriman) at the half and as the field moved up the backstretch Davis moved her to the inside to save ground.
Through the stretch, Jillian B Miki was loaded, and she exploded late, winning by a half-length in 1:55.1.
Davis began driving in 2007 and has over $31 million in career earnings.
Live racing continues at MGM Northfield Park on Monday (Nov. 11) at 6 p.m.
