Dewey Arnold takes feature at Vernon Downs

Vernon, NY – Dewey Arnold (Ron Harp) breezed to easy win in the $7,500 featured trot on Friday (May 3) at Vernon Downs.

Dewey Arnold ($4.60) went to the lead and was first to the quarter in :27.1. He used a :29.2 second quarter and led to the half in :56.3. Joxter (Dan Daley) came first-up from last heading to the far turn. He would get within half a length as Dewey Arnold led to three-quarters in 1:26.0.

As they reached the stretch Dewey Arnold had plenty in the tank and cruised to the win in 1:54.3. Joxter had to settle for second. Match My Miracle (Frank Affrunti) finished third.

Dewey Arnold is a 6-year-old gelding by Deweycheatemnhowe. He is owned by Phillip Hale and trainer David Dewhurst. It was his first win this season. He now has 33 career victories.

John MacDonald drove three winners on the card. Leon Bailey, Frank Affrunti, and Ron Harp each had driving doubles. Misty Carey and Jessica Okusko had training doubles.
