Don’t Take My Keys rallies to take Meadows feature

Washington, PA — Trailing by nine lengths and with excess cover in front of him, Don’t Take My Keys took matters into his own hands, circling the field three-wide to capture Wednesday’s (May 17) feature at The Meadows, a $12,100 Conditioned Trot.

Winning driver Hunter Myers knew he might never get a chance fourth over to unleash Don’t Take My Keys, so he opted to show racetrack then and there to the 5-year-old Uncle Peter-Designated Driver gelding. Don’t Take My Keys responded with a powerful brush that carried him to victory in 1:55.2, two lengths better than The Funk, with Stickler Hanover third.

Jeremy Indof and Mike Wilder joined trainer Randy Bendis with two wins on the 12-race card.

Live racing at The Meadows continues Thursday (May 18) when the 12-race program features a pair of carryovers: $1,321.91 in the Early Pentafecta (race 4), $601.67 in the Pick 5 (race 8). First post is 12:45 p.m.
