Dover, DE – Downers Delight utilized the passing lane and won the $27,500 Blue Hen Open Handicap Pace, in a flash photo for the win at Bally’s Dover on Thursday (March 27) night.
Adam Twelve and Downers Delight rocketed off the wings with a fast start approaching the quarter. Itsrockandroll A, the 6/5 betting favorite, also left but was able to land in third. Adam Twelve muscled his way to the top and passed the opening quarter in a wicked :26 flat.

Downers Delight accepted the pocket journey. Adam Twelve successfully forced the top aged pacers on the grounds to race single file. after reaching the half in :54.2, a :28.2 quarter.
Itsrockandroll A angled to the outside from third and sprinted midway down the backstretch in pursuit of Adam Twelve. Armada Hanover shadowed second-over on the rim and Wehadababyetzaboy gained momentum third-over. Downers Delight remained anxious from the pocket. Adam Twelve sounded the alarm after passing the three-quarter beam in 1:21.4, a :27.4 quarter.
In deep stretch it was a dog fight between three hungry pacers. Downers Delight saved ground along the pylons and won by a nose in 1:50 flat. He paid $16.40 to win for his efforts. Itsrockandroll A finished a nose back in second. Armada Hanover completed the flash photo and finished third by a head.
Downers Delight (Bettor’s Delight) is owned by Tlb Racing LLC. Traci Berry trains and her husband Pat Berry drove to a perfect trip.
Downers Delight was claimed for $50,000 in January and scored his fourth consecutive win at the meet.
The finals of the Bally’s Dover Late Closer for three-year-old DSBF eligibles takes place next week, the final week of the 2024-2025 live harness racing season.
