Columbus, MN – The Sunday night (Sept. 6) harness racing program at Running Aces was packed with huge performances, career marks, milestone wins and even a new track record.
DP Freedoms Chrome stepped up to the plate to score his first win of the season and his 31st career win with a new track record of 1:53.2 for older stallion trotters in an $11,600 conditioned event.
The talented 5-year-old, who was the 2024 Minnesota Horse of the Year, now holds three track records at the Minnesota oval and also pushed his career earnings to $403,945 for owner Aimes Racing and trainer Elvin Zimmerman.
Dean Magee was in the bike behind DP Freedoms Chrome, a son of For You Almostfree, for the record mile and the win mutuel was $2.80.
Peanutbutterfalcon and driver Scott Cisco rallied inside late to capture the $17,000 Open Handicap trot in a career-best 1:54.1 mile for his 23rd career win. He prevailed in a thrilling three-way photo over Fifty Rivers (driven by Casey Leonard) and Inferno Dk (Brady Jenson).
The winner, a 4-year-old son of Quality Kemp, was the 2025 Minnesota Horse of the Year and now shows earnings of $277,657 for trainer Dan Roland and breeder/owner Jeri Roland.
Peanutbutterfalcon paid $13 to win.
Alilthundadownunda, who was the 2021 Minnesota Horse of the Year, refused to be outshined on this night and delivered a very sharp closing effort, storming home in the lane to capture his 50th career win in an $8,500 conditioned pace with a 1:54 mile.
The game 8-year-old gelding, by Malak Uswaad N, now shows $549,096 in career earnings, which places him among the richest Minnesota-sired horses to date.
Mooney Svendsen was the winning pilot for owners Set The Pace Racing and Ken Stauffer and trainer Nick Roland.
Alilthundadownunda returned $6.80 at the windows.
SV Shining Star, by Be The Best, recorded her seventh win of the season in the $17,500 Minnesota-sired sophomore filly trot in 1:58, paying $5.80 with Rick Magee in the bike for trainer Justin Anfinson. That pair also teamed up to capture the $17,500 male division with Bang Bang Boogie, by New Jersey Viking, for his 10th win of the season with a 1:57.4 tally. He returned $3.60 on top.
Drivers Rick Magee, Brady Jenson, Casey Leonard and Mooney Svendsen and trainer Justin Anfinson all had doubles on the program.
Live racing returns to Running Aces on Tuesday night (Sept. 8) for “Dollar Night,” with $1 hot dogs and $2 beers among other value priced items, as well as Free Bet Drawings to complement an eight-race program that will get underway at 7 p.m. (CDT).
