The Swedish Trotting Derby at Jägersro in Malmö, with a first prize of $425,000 for 4-year-old trotters, had Bullet The Bluesky (Readly Express) with its trainer Daniel Wäjersten as the big favorite, but Bullet The Bluesky made a break from the start and was disqualified.
Now, Jörgen Westholm-trained Dream Mine (sired by Maharajah) with Mats E. Djuse in the sulky could take the lead, and the pair easily ran out to win in 1.54.0f (mile rate) – the distance was 1-5/8 miles.
The mares contest, the Derbystoet with a first prize of $215,000, had the previously undefeated Ulaya (sired by Love You) with Magnus A. Djuse as the favorite, but she disappointed and went off stride as a beaten horse in the home stretch.
Here, too, the winner led from start to finish. It was Roger Walmann-trained SG Empress (sired by Readly Express) with Rikard N. Skoglund in the sulky – the pair won easily in 1.56.0f (mile rate) – the distance here was 1-5/16 miles.
