The 2024 Prix d’Amerique winner Idao de Tillard, with Clement Duvaldestin, had an easy task at the La Capelle track In Normandy, France, Wednesday afternoon (Sept. 4).
A field of 13 trotters raced in the Grand Prix Federation Regionale du Nord, a Group 2 race over 1-1/8 miles and with a total purse of 120,000 Euro. The winner’s purse was 54,000 Euro.
From the start Idao de Tillard was parked outside stablemate Ampia Mede SM with Benjamin Richard, and with five-eighths of a mile to go Duvaldestin sent his horse to the front and stayed there.
Idao de Tillard won in 1:56.2m (mile rate) followed by Ampia Mede SM and Emeraude des Bais. Second favorite Hohneck, with Gabriele Gelormini, was locked in most of the trip and only found racing room when it was too late.
