Ed Telle, 76, dies

Columbus, OH — Edward Eugene Telle, 76, of Orlando, Fla., passed away at his home on March 17, 2023.

Mr. Telle was born on March 1, 1947, in the Panama Canal Zone to the late Louis and Katherine Telle. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps before being honorably discharged from active service in 1971. On April 4, 1991, he married Suzie Dupler.

He graduated from Petersburg High School and Old Dominion University, both in Virginia.

Mr. Telle, along with his wife, owned Main Street Terrace Care Center in Lancaster, Ohio. He was also the previous owner of Arcadia Acres Nursing Home, Woodstock Care Center and Willowood Care Center. He loved and was passionate about horse racing. He was an owner and trainer of Standardbreds and in the past owned Thoroughbreds, as well.

Mr. Telle raced his horses under the banner of Winchester Baye Acres, and one of those horses was Big Bad John p,3,1:49 ($1,000,559), the winner of the 2011 Little Brown Jug.

Besides his wife of 31 years, Suzie, Mr. Telle is survived by his three sons, Daniel, Ethin and Steven; brothers, Thomas (Sherry) and Theodore (Susan); father-in-law, Jerry Dupler (Joan Irwin); brother-in-law, Randy Dupler; sister-in-law Kristy Owen (John); and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Robert (Shirley); mother-in-law, Neva Dupler; and his best friends, Bill and Donna Dudley, Dan Reynolds and Gary Junk.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Buckeye Cruise for Cancer or to New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program.

A celebration of life will take place Friday, April 21, from 4-7 p.m. at The Ag Center, Delaware County Fairgrounds, 236 Pennsylvania Avenue, Delaware, OH 43015.

Inurnment with military honors will take place in the future at Arlington National Cemetery.
