Dover, DE — After finishing second in her last two starts, Elektra A wired the field in Wednesday’s (Jan. 8) $25,000 Mares Open Handicap Pace at Bally’s Dover.
Driver Tim Tetrick blasted off the wings of the starting gate with 1-5 favorite Elektra A and took command of the racetrack early. The field remained in single file as Elektra A carved out fractions of :28, :57.1 and 1:25.2. The daughter of Four Starzzz Shark opened up in the stretch and won by two lengths in 1:52.4. Lulu Rocks rode the pocket to finish second; Disturbed Hanover finished third after a failed first-over bid up the backstretch.
Jeff Cullipher trains Elektra A, who paid $2.40 to win, for Pollack Racing LLC.
Tetrick drove four winners for the second consecutive card.
Thursday’s (Jan. 9) featured $27,500 Blue Hen Handicap Pace, carded as race 12, sees Wehadababyetzaboy squaring off against Itsrockandroll A. First post is 4:30 p.m.
