Enola scores second straight win at Plainridge

Plainville, MA — Coming off a winning effort that yielded a lifetime mark last week, Enola bounced right back and lowered her standard again in the $16,000 featured trot on Thursday (Apr. 25) at Plainridge Park.

Cruising Tom (Maty Athearn) took the lead and got to the quarter in :27.4. However, Busting With Pride (Brett Beckwith) brushed outside from third and grabbed the front before the :57 half. Bruce Ranger had Enola out and rolling at that point and made it to second on the rim as they passed three-quarters. Busting With Pride and Enola then matched strides around the last turn and continued to tussle into the stretch. As they trotted in deep stretch, Enola started to edge ahead and eventually gained a neck advantage to win in 1:56, taking a new lifetime mark.

It was the fourth win in the last five starts for Enola ($6.80), who is owned by Burke Racing and Weaver Bruscemi, and trained by Joe Nelson.

The undercard $14,000 trot was won by Big Al M (Matty Atheran), who went gate to wire in 1:55.1, winning by 2-3/4 lengths in his first start of the year. Big Al M ($11.40) is owned by his trainer, Zachary Vickerson.

Brett Beckwith led all drivers with three wins on Thursday while 11 different trainers each won one race apiece.

Racing at Plainridge Park resumes on Monday (April 29) with post time at 4 p.m. The card will feature a $1,268 carryover in the Wicked Hi-5 in race six.
