Vernon, NY – ER Super Shady (Dylan Huckabone-Miller) and Bourbon Express (John MacDonald) captured the co-features at Vernon Downs on Friday (Aug. 16).
ER Super Shady ($7.70) fired late to take the $5,500 featured pace.

Blue Collar Man (Josh Kinney) was first to the quarter in :26.2. Gunpowder N (Jimmy Whittemore) took the lead going around the first turn. Then Snap Call (John MacDonald) took over and was first to the half in :54.2. He cruised to three-quarters in 1:23.2.
As they reached the stretch ER Super Shady made her move and blew right on by to win in a lifetime best of 1:52.1. Snap Call had to settle for second. Go With The Flow (Leon Bailey) finished third.
ER Super Shady is a 5-year-old mare by Shadyshark Hanover. She is owned by James Crawford IV and trained by Claude Huckabone III. It was her third win this season. She now has seven career victories.
Bourbon Express ($4.20) also won a $5,500 featured trot.
Bourbon Express led to the quarter in :28.3. He slowed things down with a :29.4 second quarter and was first to the half in :58.2. He remained on top to three-quarters in 1:27.2.

As they entered the stretch Only Passing Thru (Jimmy Whittemore) and Lepanto (Leon Bailey) went all out after the leader, but Bourbon Express had plenty in the tank and won in 1:56.1. Lepanto was second best. Only Passing Thru finished third.
Bourbon Express is a 7-year-old gelding by RC Royalty. He is owned by James DeArmond, Sal Vullo, and trainer Jessica Okusko. It was his fifth win this season and the 29th win of his career.
Vernon Downs returns to live racing on Saturday (Aug. 17) with a 13-race card featuring a leg of the New York Sire Stakes for 2-year-old pacing colts & geldings starting at 6:05 p.m.
