Fair racing concludes at Montpelier, Ohio

Montpelier, OH — The Williams County Fair at Montpelier, Ohio, closed out its racing for 2012 on Tuesday evening (Sept. 11) with eight harness races and five Trottingbred races. Tuesday’s races also brought an end to the season for the Northwestern Ohio Colt Racing Association.

Sam’s Silly Lilly (Nobleland Sam-Silly Lilly) picked up her first lifetime win in taking the 2-year-old filly pace in 2:06.3. Bill Webb trains Sam’s Silly Lilly and also co-owns her with Denny Miller. Greg Bateson performed the driving duties.

Mark Headworth steered Screamin Dreamin (Ilooklikemymom-Flowing Jody) to victory in the 3-year-old filly trot. Ray Sugg trains the filly with Amrheinsracingstablellc paying the bills. Screamin Dreamin circled the Montpelier twice-around in 2:05.3.

Where U At (Feelin Friskie-Locator) took the 3-year-old colt pace in 2:05.1. Suzanne Bates and Robyn McGhee own the colt with Ty Bates doing the training and Dan Venier handling the driving chores.

Emil Konesky’s Trottin On Over (Neely Dunn-Halle Coy) came in after winning the $100,000 Ohio Sires Stakes final on Saturday at Scioto Downs to capture the 2-year-old colt trot in 2:07.4. Mark Headworth is the trainer-driver of Trottin On Over. The win marked the sixth consecutive win for Trottin On Over.

Randy Mapes picked up a new stopwatch by piloting Sugar Rei to the fastest mile of the fair. Sugar Rei paced a mile in 2:01.2 in a conditioned pace.

The fastest half-mile in the Trottingbred races was turned in by Cherokees Ironman. The 3-year-old pacer went once around in 1:01.1. Dale Miller is the trainer-driver of the colt with Arnold and Robin Manders picking up the expenses.
