Forrest Pierson, 69, dies

Columbus, OH — Forrest A. “Frosty” Pierson, 69, of Hawkinsville, Ga., and Montpelier, Ind., died Feb. 17, 2024, at his residence in Hawkinsville.

He was born April 17, 1954, in Marion, Ind., and was a 1972 graduate of Blackford High School.

Mr. Pierson worked as a Standardbred trainer and groom. He had worked for several stables in New Jersey, Florida, Georgia, and Indiana. Some of those included working for Ron Otto, Roger Cullipher, and at Hoosier Park in Anderson, Ind.

He lived in Anderson in the summer months and in Hawkinsville in the winter months.

In the 1970s he owned Frosty’s in Montpelier.

Mr. Pierson enjoyed horse racing and fishing.

He will be sadly missed by his nieces, Annette (Rocky) Loney, Toni (Ray) Dishman, and Roma J. Cravens; nephews, Paxton (Michele) Ryan, Charles (Angie) Hunt, and James (Ashley) Hunt; and several great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Forrest; mother, Roma (Calender) Shackleford; and siblings, Cameron Cravens, Carol Cravens, James Work, Donna Ryan, Michael, Patrick and  Linda Doyle.

There will be a Celebration of Life held at a later date.
