Columbus, OH – Frank C. Kuenning, 89, former co-owner and manager of Post Printing Co. in Minster, Ohio and Lexington, Ky., passed away Aug. 14 at Elmwood Assisted Living in New Bremen, Ohio.
Post Printing was one of the owners of Horseman Publishing Co., which published The Horseman And Fair World magazine and founded harnessracing.com. Post also prints sale catalogs for both the Lexington Selected and Ohio Jug yearling sales, among others.
Kuenning, along with his partner the late Glenn Thompson Sr., was a strong supporter of harness racing and bullish about its future. He was instrumental in starting the Breeders Book Stallion Directory, which is now a product of the USTA.
Kuenning, an Army veteran, was born in New Bremen and lived in the area his entire life. He is survived by his wife Jeanne, sons Keith Kuenning (Tess) and Kevin Kuenning, and his stepchildren Mary Jo (Dave) Stillwell, James (Deb) Ahrns Jr. and Patti (Gary) Williams, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Frank was preceded in death by his son, Kirk Kuenning.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 19 at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Redeemer in New Bremen. Interment will follow in the St. Augustine Cemetery in Minster, with military honors.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 18 from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home in New Bremen, and again on Monday at the church, prior to Mass, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Church of the Holy Redeemer or to Grand Lake Hospice.
