Anderson, IN – Fresh Face Yankee driven and trained by Jay Cross did not miss a beat in her dominant return winning the third leg of the $96,000 Indiana Sire Stakes 3-Year-Old Filly Trot at Harrah’s Hoosier Park on Tuesday (June 23).

Leaving from the rail as the post-time favorite, Fresh Face Yankee surged out of the gate, avoiding a potential rough trip in post one to be met with a host of early challengers. Dial Nine One One (John De Long) climbed out of post three getting to the rail in front of Fresh Face Yankee. Meanwhile, Bluebird Kazoom (Jordan Ross) charged along the outside with Help Cum Laude (Marcus Miller) trailing to ultimately sandwich Fresh Face Yankee on the inside. Bluebird Kazoom eventually claimed the lead at the first turn in :27.1.
Help Cum Laude didn’t let the advantage last long pulling the same move on Bluebird Kazoom to take the lead shortly after the turn. From fourth, Fresh Face Yankee followed suit, gliding around the top trio to take matters into her own hands to take control. Fresh Face Yankee led the 10-horse field at the halfway mark in :56.1.
Back in familiar territory, Fresh Face Yankee maintained her lead to the three-quarters in 1:25.4. Bluebird Kazoom would take a peek from third looking to move up, but Fresh Face Yankee wouldn’t give another filly a chance at the lead cruising down the stretch, leaving no doubt with a 4-3/4 length lead on the wire in 1:53. Bluebird Kazoom held onto second, while Expressive Gal (Kyle Wilfong) rallied for third.
Fresh Face Yankee is owned by Timothy Smith and was bred by Fashion Hill Farm. For her fifth win in a row and a new lifetime mark, Fresh Face Yankee boosted her lifetime earnings to $137,960. Fresh Face Yankee paid $4 to win.
