Frondeur and Boston Rocks take opening night features at Tioga

Nichols, NY – Frondeur (Ridge Warren) and Boston Rocks (Tyler Miller) captured the features at Tioga Downs on Saturday night (May 4).

Frodeur ($5.10) won the $10,000 fillies and mares pace.

No Cigar Tony (Mike Merton) put up all the early fractions :27.2, :57.3, 1:25.1. As they made the turn for home, Frondeur flew right on by to win in 1:54.4. No Cigar Tony had to settle for second money. Prairie Magical (Jim Taggert Jr.) finished third.

Frondeur is a 4-year-old mare by Rocknroll Dance. She is owned by Shim Racing LLC and trained by Erv Miller. It was her first win this season. She now has five career victories.

Boston Rocks ($2.20) cruised to an easy win in the $10,000 featured pace for colts and geldings.

Twin B Kingston (Barton Dalious) led to the quarter in :27.3. Allbetsonfritz (Ridge Warren) took over with a lap to go and was first to the half in :58. Boston Rocks (Tyler Miller) blasted on by and led to three-quarters in 1:25.

As they reached the stretch, it became a battle for second as Boston Rocks won in a lifetime best of 1:53.4. P L Quesadilla (Tom Merton) was the runner-up. Twin B Kingston finished third.

Boston Rocks is a 3-year-old colt by Boston Red Rocks. He is trained by Mike Deters for owners Rick Berks and Peter Blood. Boston Rocks is one for one in 2024. It was his fifth career victory.

Tyler Miller drove four winners on the card. He combined with trainer Mike Deters two more times as he got wins with Jones Hanover ($2.50) and The Stunning Nun N ($10.60). His other win came with Arnie’s Angel ($3.70) for trainer Randy Taft.

Live racing returns to Tioga Downs on Sunday (May 5) with a 13-race card starting at 1 p.m.
