Gold Digger King reigns in Dayton Open

Dayton, OH — Despite a heavy downpour that delayed the Thursday (Sept. 28) card of racing at Dayton Raceway, Gold Digger King who claimed victory in the $25,000 Open Pace.

Leaving from post six, Gold Digger King used his early speed to his advantage, making every pole a winning one through fractions of 27.1, 55.2 and 1:22.2 en route to a 1:50.1 victory by a length over favorite Bernie and third-place finisher Angers Bayama.

The victory was the 34th career win for the son of Pet Rock for regular pilot Tyler Smith, trainer Scott Mogan and owner Linda Van Camp.

Gold Digger King paid $6.60.
