Gotubydashorthairs and I’m A Skoldier dominate in sophomore action at Aces

Columbus, MN — The Thursday night (July 27) harness racing program at Running Aces featured two divisions of the Minnesota-sired sophomore pace and the favorites came through with dominating performances.

In the $18,250 filly division, Gotubydashorthairs (Nick Roland, $2.60) travelled at the back of the pack early and then rallied three-wide heading into the final turn before powering past her rivals in the lane en route to a 1-3/4 length tally over Made Of Misschief (Luke Plano) and Wavzeka (Todd Warren) in 1:57.2.

It was the fourth straight win for the impressive daughter of Wind Me Up who is owned by Mark Anderson and trained by Gordon Graham.

I’m A Skoldier and driver Mooney Svendsen were very fast off the car to quickly establish command in the $18,250 male division, while King Of Aces (Plano) secured the pocket and Polar Storm (Rick Magee) found a seat in third. Ex Why Zee (Brady Jenson) posted an impressive first over effort but could not get to the leader and I’m A Skoldier ($3.40) kicked it into high gear in the homestretch to draw clear by three lengths in 1:54.4. King Of Aces rallied for second over Ex Why Zee.

The winner is also by Wind Me Up and he now shows five wins in eight starts this season for owner/breeder Van Otterloo Stables and trainer Bob Lems.

Racing was delayed and then races 7-11 were cancelled after multiple waves of heavy rain and thunderstorms.

Mooney Svendsen led the abbreviated program with a driving double.

Live racing returns to Running Aces on Sunday (July 30) with a three-race early non-betting card that begins at 6 p.m. and a nine-race betting program that gets underway at 7 p.m. (CDT).
