Topsham, ME — Driver Andrew Harrington won half the races at the Topsham Fair on Wednesday (Aug. 7), visiting the trackside winner’s circle on four occasions with a wide variety of charges.
His wins included a $16,191 Maine Sire Stakes tally with Arts Flight (2:00-$6.60), the first $4,000 leg of the Behind The Gate late closing series with He Can Rock (1:59.1-$17.80) and a $5,100 overnight event with Hope Im An Icon (1:59.3-$16.20), an entry from his wife Sara’s stable.

But his favorite score came in the $5,500 feature race race of the day with another entry from his wife’s roster as the 14-year-old pacer Rockaholic (2:00.1-$6.60) rode a pocket-sitting, pylon-skimming path before pouncing at the wire, and rolling to the 42nd win of his career. The win was the second of the season for the veteran son of Rocknroll Hanover-Pacific Classic and propelled the veteran pacer’s career bankroll to $358,757.
“He’s such a good horse” Andrew Harrington remarked, “He loves his work and always wants to win so we always treat him with the respect he deserves.
“The plan is to race him through the Maine Fair season and then if we’re fortunate enough to get a win with him when Bangor reopens in October, we’ll retire him right there on the track. I want him to go out a winner. He deserves that honor.”
Harrington’s four wins on Wednesday propelled him to the top of the Topsham Fair drivers’ standings with a total of six wins over the course of the first three days of the five-day meeting. He sits one win in front of Kevin Switzer Jr.
Live harness racing resumes at Topsham on Thursday (Aug. 8) with post time scheduled for 3 p.m. (EDT).
