Bangor, ME – On an overcast afternoon, and with a moisture-laden front bearing down, driver Aaron Hall came to the forefront of the early action at Bangor Raceway on Wednesday (May 6), ducking the drizzle, while scoring twin wins over the course of the eight-race card.
Wariner (2:01.4, $3.20) was first to be feted as Hall executed a devastatingly effective first-over strategy after breaking third from the starting gate.
Establishing the outer flow in pursuit the front-running Hallofaride (Michael Stevenson), Wariner made incremental progress toward the top through a third-quarter parry, matched strides with the rabbit in an epic stare down throughout the entirety of the final turn, and then sprinted clear toward the wire through a decelerating fourth-quarter tempo.
Wariner, who is trained by Hall for stalwart Maine owner Thomas Bradford, finished 2-lengths the best over Star Hairdresser (McGwire Sowers), who rallied for the bridesmaid share while Hallofaride settled for show dough.
Hall’s second win came in gate-to-wire fashion as he throttled up and throttled down through devastatingly controlled fractions, securing the first win of the season for the Johnathan Breshnahan-trained Bolt Ruler (2:00, $11.60).
In other Bangor news, drivers Heath Campbell and Kevin Switzer Jr. matched Hall with two wins each on Wednesday, maintaining their shared supremacy atop the Bangor Raceway leaderboard with nine seasonal scores apiece.
