Harrington, DE — A beautiful forecast is on tap for Harrington Raceway’s 79th season opener for live harness racing Monday night (April 14) with a 4:30 p.m. post time.
Temperatures are expected to hover around 70 degrees for the start of the 13-race program.
Horsemen had their first use of the newly renovated race paddock at the April 8 qualifiers where gates were added to stalls for 14 races, in addition to new mats, chairs and tack racks. A new sound system was also implemented for fans watching outside in the grandstand/track apron area.
Dee Lineweaver, Harrington’s new race secretary, has a $17,000 Delaware Special on the Monday program as the feature. TLB Racing’s Downers Delight (2/1, Pat Berry) will look to keep his triumphant form spree alive as a winner of five straight races at Bally’s Dover.
Pick-4 wagering remains in the second and last four races nightly. Instead of consolation payouts on the Pick-4 and superfectas, full carryovers are again in place to aid in the potential to build bigger pools.
Live racing will be conducted primarily on a Monday through Wednesday schedule through the season. One change from years past will be that racing during the Delaware State Fair will occur on the first night of the fair (July 17).
Free racing programs are again available online courtesy of the Delaware Standardbred Owners Association (DSOA) via the Harrington Raceway website.
