HHI annual meetings set for Feb. 20-23

Burlington, NJ — Harness Horsemen International’s annual meeting takes place Monday (Feb. 20) through Thursday (Feb. 23) at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Deerfield Beach, Fla.

The meetings begin with an HHI board meeting on Monday at 4:30 p.m., followed by a welcome reception from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at BT’s Ocean Restaurant & Patio.

On Tuesday, the general session begins at 9 a.m., with a message from the American Horse Council, followed by a presentation from USTA Executive Vice President Mike Tanner, and a discussion with Stephanie Valberg DVM on the affliction of “tying up” in Standardbred racehorses. HHI minutes, business, and association reports follow.

The meeting agenda for Wednesday includes a presentation from Jonathan Ferguson, CEO of Truusight, followed by HHI standing committee meetings focusing on insurance, budget, legal, convention, and foundation. The award luncheon that afternoon will honor these winners: HHI Dominic Frinzi Person of the Year: Greg Budach; HHI Appreciation Award: Senator Kim Ward; and Clyde Hirt Media Award: Darin Gagne.

Thursday meetings begin with a 9 a.m. general session, followed by association reports and any unfinished business, with HHI elections to follow, and the conclusion of the meetings.

HHI’s Board of Directors include: Ron Battoni, President; Kim Hankins, First VP; Tony Somone, Second VP; Sal DiMario, Secretary; Andy Markano, Treasurer; At-Large Directors Cathy Dessert, Aaron Hall, Mike Harant, and Paul London; and Emeritus Members Mike Izzo and Tom Luchento.
