Hierro Boko is Europe’s fastest trotter in 2023

The 9-year-old Swedish gelding Hierro Boko, with Santttu Raitala in the bike and trained by Hannu Korpi, won the St Michels Race at the Mikkeli track in Finland in 1:49.4f, which is the fastest time in Europe this year.

In fact, it is the second fastest winning time in Europe ever. Only Ringostarr Treb, an Italian trotter, has been faster by a fraction, winning the Aabergs Memorial at Jägersro.

At Mikkeli, Mellby Jinx with Daniel Wäjersten and Hail Mary with Ôrjan Kihlström battled for the lead a long time and were still head-to-head going into the stretch. From behind Hierro Boko came very fast and went around the leading couple to win by three lengths, followed by a brave Hail Mary and Bengurion Jet with Alessandro Gocciadoro third.

Hierro Boko is sired by From Above (he by Zoot Suit) and out of Staro Almighty (she by Yankee Glide).

Hierro Boko was sold a couple of years ago for a mere 10,000 Euro and has since developed into a top trotter in the care of Hannu Korpi. This was win number nine from 17 races this year.
