Horsemen reminders for Harrington’s 77th season

Harrington, DE — Horsemen and racing fans are reminded that Harrington Raceway’s 77th season of live harness racing will commence on April 10.

The first qualifier will be Tuesday (April 4) and will follow on Wednesdays for the balance of the spring season.

Live racing will be conducted primarily on a Monday through Wednesday schedule before the customary summer break after the July 3 program.

The annual Governor’s Day program during the Delaware State Fair is July 27 (special 7 p.m. post time) and will feature approximately $600,000 in total purses, showcasing The First State’s finest horses owned by Delawareans in addition to a quartet of $100,000 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund finals for 3-year-olds featuring the top Delaware-sired horses.

Live racing will resume off the break on Aug. 14 on a Monday/Tuesday schedule for the balance of the month before a Monday through Wednesday schedule will resume until Oct. 18.

Familiar faces expected to return to defend their titles are driver Allan Davis and trainer Joe Columbo.

An early Pick-5 and late Pick-4 (last four races nightly) are highlights of the wagering menu, in addition to a new 50-cent minimum wager base on superfectas. There is no consolation payout on the Pick-4, Pick-5 and superfecta, which feature 100 percent carryovers.

Bettors will be pleased to know that once again free programs will be made available on the Harrington website, courtesy of the Delaware Standardbred Owners Association.

Horsemen are reminded that applications are online here and due March 27.

The first draw for qualifiers will be Monday (April 3) and first draw for the April 10 program will be Tuesday (April 4).

With the exception of July 27, post time is 4:30 p.m. nightly.
