The prestigious Prix de l’Atlantique raced Saturday afternoon (April 20) in front of 11,013 spectators at the Enghien Track in the outskirts of Paris, France, was won in a convincing style by Horsy Dream with Eric Raffin in the bike.
Horsy Dream seemed to be in a class of his own and won by open lengths in 1:53 (mile rate) which is a new race record. The old record was held by Norwegian bred trotter Looking Superb and was 1:53.3.
The purse for the winner in this Group 1 event raced over 1-5/16th miles was 90,000 Euro.
At Jägersro, the main event, a qualifying race for the Paralympic Trot to be raced on May 4 at Aby, was won handily by Italian trotter Bengurion Jet with trainer Alessandro Gocciadoro in the bike. Bengurion Jet (sired by Maharajah) won easily in 1:53.3f (mile rate).
Gocciadoro was the man of the day, winning three races from as many starts.
