Columbus, OH — Howard H. Wallace, 89, died Jan. 28, 2025.
Born Jan. 6, 1936, in Morehead, Ky., to William and Lyda (née Bowman), Mr. Wallace’s journey through life was characterized by his unwavering dedication to his family, his career at General Motors, and his lifelong passion for raising and racing horses. He spent years at GM, where he was respected for his contributions and the camaraderie he built with colleagues. However, his true passion lay in the equestrian world; for over 40 years, he raised and raced horses.
Mr. Wallace is survived by a son, Roger (Linda); daughter, Sharon Gustin; stepson, Tim (Maureen) Trefz; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and countless friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janet (née Fisher); sister, Estella Sams; stepsons, Douglas and Gary Trefz; and a granddaughter, Michelle Lainhart.
Funeral services will be held at the Thompson Funeral Home on Thursday, Feb. 6, at 12:30 p.m. Burial will follow at the Resthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of services on Thursday at the Thompson Funeral Home.
