Hurricane Lee impacts Bangor Raceway schedule

Bangor, ME — Live harness racing at Bangor Raceway will be conducted Wednesday (Sept. 13) as originally scheduled with post time slated at 3 p.m. (EDT). But with Hurricane Lee bearing down on New England and the Maritimes this weekend, Bangor management has proactively moved up its planned Saturday card to Friday (Sept. 15) with an early 11 a.m. post time.

“Taking into consideration the safety of the horses, backstretch workers, our patrons, and employees, we concluded the most prudent course of action was to move the card up to Friday,” said Bangor Race Secretary Jean Thayer. “We’re hopeful that our on-track and off-track fans will support this move by turning up and tuning in to wager on this special program.”

Friday’s card will be the final September live harness racing performance at Bangor Raceway which will then remain open for simulcast wagering during its annual break in deference to Maine’s fall fairground circuit. Live harness racing will resume on Oct. 11 at Bangor Raceway with the fall meet featuring the $250,000 3-year-old finals of the Maine Sire Stakes program, under the lights, on Saturday (Oct. 14) with post time scheduled at 6 p.m.
