The 5-year-old trotter Get A Wish (sired by Wishing Stone), who will represent Denmark in the upcoming International Trot at MGM Yonkers Raceway on Sept. 9, won in impressive style in 1:52.4f Sunday afternoon (Aug. 27) at Charlottenlund in Copenhagen.

Get A Wish had trainer Bo Westergaard in the bike, who also will drive him at Yonkers.

All the European trotters who will race in the International Trot leave by air on Sept. 3 from Belgium.

It was Derby day at Charlottenlund and Dansk Trav Derby 2023 with a purse for the winner of $132,500, was won handily by 4-year-old Holger Danske with trainer Michael Lönborg in the bike. The Derby is raced over 3.000 meters — a little less than two miles — and the win time was 1:59f (mile rate).

For trainer/driver Michael Lönborg the weekend was a tremendous success, as he not only was in the bike behind Holger Danske, but he is also the breeder.

Further to that success, add a win for Lönborg in the mares Derby, Dansk Hoppe Derby, raced Saturday with Harper (sired by Broadway Hall).
