Nichols, NY — Sunday (Sept. 8) marks the first annual “It Takes A Village” scholarship day at Tioga Downs.
It will feature four different amateur clubs competing for bragging rights to benefit six college freshmen. There will be six races named in honor of friends who have passed. The six $1,000 scholarships will go to Logan Allen, Margaret (Maggie) Copp, Liliana Regan, Lily Sickler, Nikki Stark, and Ryan Stark. All the scholars have roots in harness racing.
Races will be named in honor of Tioga Strong, Paul Bernardo, Randy Ring, Leon Cable, Dave Brower, and Ethan Parker.
Scholarships and sponsorships are generously provided by Tioga Downs, Southern Tier Harness Horsemen’s Association, Southern Tier Amateur Club, US Driving Club, Great Lakes Amateur Driving Club, Meadowlands Amateur Driving club, Jackie and Seth Parker, and the family of Norman and Ellie Taft.
