Columbus, OH — James H. (Jimmy) Murray, 82, of Dover, Del., died July 20, 2023, in his sleep in hospice care with his wife Peggy Anderson by his side.

Mr. Murray was born Feb. 8, 1941, in Millsboro, Del., to the late James Edward (Jim) Murray and Irene Murray. He was the oldest of three children.

He was a horseman (driver and trainer), racing horses over the eastern United States for some 50-plus years before retiring.

Mr. Murray is survived by his current wife, Peggy Anderson; son, the Honorable James Alan (Jamie); daughter, Jill Deputy; grandchildren, Casey Burch, Andrew Deputy and Kelli Deputy; great-grandchildren, Cayden Burch, Jace Burch, Aleigha Deputy and Caroline Deputy; and sisters, Janis (Leon) Collins and Judy Edwards.

Per his wishes, a private memorial service for family will be held in the coming days.
