Columbus, OH — Jerrold “Jerry” Spitzberg, 83, a longtime harness racing owner and USTA member died earlier this week.
Mr. Spitzberg owned many horses over the years with his longtime partner, Robert Cohen, under the name Ribbonships. Together, they owned babies, older racehorses and broodmares including stakes winners such as Fox Valley Appeal, Jagged, Chart Carrier and Mollie Mile.
Mr. Spitzberg loved Saturday mornings mingling with horsemen at the farm followed by afternoons sitting outside watching the races at Freehold.
Always fun to be around, he was known to his friends and partners for his positivity and his love of harness racing.
