Jet Hill sets Scioto track record in Ohio Sires Stakes

Grove City, OH — Jet Hill wrapped up the final leg of the Ohio Sires Stakes for 3-year-old colt trotters by setting a new Eldorado Scioto Downs track record Friday (Aug. 25). The son of What The Hill captured the first of two $55,000 divisions for the sophomore trotters.

Jet Hill with Ronnie Wrenn Jr. grabbed the early lead as the field passed the quarter pole. As the field moved up the backstretch, Grand Revival with Brett Miller made their move, going from third to first. Jet Hill and Grand Revival battled around the final turn with Jet Hill finally taking control at the top of the stretch and drawing away to win by 3-1/4 lengths in a track record and new lifetime mark of 1:51.4. Grand Revival finished second with Rumble Strips hanging on for third.

It was the seventh win of the year for the Edward Miller trainee. Four of the wins have been in Sires Stakes action. Jet Hill is owned by Serenity Racing Stables and raised his earnings this year to $192,650.

In the second division, John Dutton collected his third win in the Ohio Sires Stakes. Chris Page took the 3-5 favorite three-wide around the final turn, grabbing the lead at the top of the stretch and pulling away to win by 2-1/4 lengths in 1:54.1. It was the ninth win in 14 season’s starts for the son of What The Hill. Trained by Ron Burke and owned by Burke Racing Stable, Knox Services, Johnny Yoder, and RAS Racing, John Dutton has raised his earnings this year to $209,041. Jogging Full Trot was second with Burton’s Hill third.

The fifth leg of the Ohio Sires Stakes wraps up Saturday (Aug. 27) at Eldorado Scioto Downs with four divisions taking to the track. Two-year-old colt pacers and trotters, 3-year-old colt pacers, and 3-year-old filly pacers will be in action.
