Dover, DE — Jody waited patiently then struck late to spring a 12-1 upset in the featured $16,000 winners-over event for distaff pacers on Wednesday night (Feb. 21) at Bally’s Dover.

Tae sounded the alarm early and rushed to the front, forcing Southwind Icenfire, Jody and Lyons Bettorday to take seats approaching the quarter pole. Tae set fractions of :27, :55.2 and 1:23 while uncontested before Jody rushed first-over past the three-quarter pole with Lyons Bettorday shadowing cover and 3-5 favorite Southwind Icenfire remaining in the pocket but beginning to fade.
Jody surged late in the lane and defeated Tae by a head in 1:51.4. Lyons Bettorday closed to finish third.
Allan Davis drove Jody, a daughter of Betterthancheddar who paid $26.40 to win, for trainer Wayne Givens and owner Reginald Hazzard.
Energetic Hanover takes on Sprocket, Penzance Hanover and Belmont Royale N in the $27,500 Blue Hen/Open Handicap Pace at Bally’s Dover on Thursday night (Feb. 22). First post is 4:30 p.m.
