Columbus, OH — Johnny Todd Johnson, 69, of Eaton, Ohio, died Sept. 23, 2024, at Sycamore Hospital in Miamisburg, Ohio, following a brief illness.
He was born Nov. 12, 1954, in Dayton, Ohio, was a graduate of Dixie High School in New Lebanon, Ohio, and attended farrier school in Illinois.
He adored horses and throughout his life trained and raced Standardbreds in numerous races around the country.
He loved coaching little league baseball and football and was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds, Cincinnati Bengals and Ohio State football.
Mr. Johnson never knew a stranger and seemed to know everyone, but his greatest joy came from harness racing and spending time with his family and close friends.
He is survived by his parents, Richard M. Jr. and Doris Jane (Jacobs); children, Lindsey (Jason) Proctor, Johnna (Tony) Smith and Jake (Ciera); brother and sister-in-law, Richard M. III “Joe” (Debra); grandchildren, Maddie Baker and Gavin Kisling; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Steven, in 1950; maternal grandparents, Charles “Gramps” and Ada (Hafer) Jacobs; and paternal grandparents, Richard M. and Mabel (Gebhart).
In honor of Johnny’s wishes, a party will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday (Oct. 5) at the Fraternal Order of Eagles #2202, 225 East Main Street, Eaton, OH 45320.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fraternal Order of Eagles #2202 by cash or check.
