Columbus, OH — Kathleen Jane “Kathy” Mattison, 75, of Hinsdale, N.H., died at her home on Aug. 19, 2024, after a nearly yearlong battle with cancer.
Born in Montague, Mass., on May 1, 1949, she was the daughter of Clarence and Beatrice (Case) Jardine. She attended Orange Elementary School and graduated from Mahar Regional High School in 1967. She was employed at HCP Packaging (formerly Bridgeport Metals) for many years as a machine operator.
Mrs. Mattison had a great love for horses and harness racing. She was one of the sport’s first female drivers, driving her first race with her beloved horse Niblet. She met her husband of 48 years, Clyde Mattison, at Hinsdale Raceway. They wed Sept. 4, 1971, and welcomed their son, Alan, in 1972.
She also loved to visit “Amish Country” in Pennsylvania.
Mrs. Mattison is survived by her brother, Russel (Charlene) Jardine; granddaughter, Brittany (Anthony) Mercier; great-granddaughter, Greta; and many extended relatives, neighbors and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Alan; and sisters, Lois Lincoln and Marjorie Jardine.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the First Congregational Church, 36 Main Street, Hinsdale, N.H., on Saturday (Aug. 31), at 1 p.m.
