Kelsie Awaiting Tops PEO Mixed Sale

Briarcliff Manor, NY – The well-bred 3-year-old trotting filly Kelsie Awaiting, a full sister to the multiple stakes’ winning Walner Payton was the sales topper in the Monday (March 4) Preferred Equine Online Mixed Sale.

Consigned by PEO as agent for Ken Jacobs, the daughter of Walner topped the auction with a purchase price of $230,000. With multiple bidders during the extended time, she was purchased by one of the sports leading breeders, Crawford Farms, LLC.

Recent Meadowlands winner Sheer Terror p,4,1:49.4-’24 was hammered down for $90,000 to Mark Howard. The Always B Miki gelding paced to a new career best on Saturday night at The Meadowlands and should be a contender in the upcoming four-year-old events.

Early Action was the next highest lot, selling to David Rovine Stable, LLC, Agent. The five-year-old Huntsville gelding sold for $62,000. Both Sheer Terror and Early action were sold by PEO, agent for the partnership of Val D’or Farms and Theodore Gewertz, and Hall of Fame trainer Joe Holloway.

Sale proprietor and manager David Reid was pleased with both the results and the overall participation in this and previous sales.

“It’s been two years since we launched our online sales division,” he said. “First and foremost, I continue to be pleased with the continued success our sales graduates have had for their new owners, and also our customers are understanding the level of customer service the PEO staff delivers across the industry.”

“There are no boundaries with our online sales. Participation in our sales platform has come from literally everywhere… Europe, Southern Hemisphere, East Coast, West Coast, Canada, and the Midwest. That was the case once again at this week’s sale.”

In all, 12 lots sold for $537,950, equaling a strong average of nearly $45,000 in the March 4th event.

Preferred Equine Online is currently on a every other week sale schedule, with the next auction slated for Monday, March 18th.
