Edgerton, OH — The ladies driving series in Ohio, which was originally known as the Ohio Ladies Pace Association and has been called the Spring Haven Farm Ladies Driving Series since 2018, enjoyed the biggest day in its ten-year history on Wednesday (Sept. 11) when five races were contested.
The racing began at the Williams County Fair in Montpelier, Ohio, in the afternoon and concluded at the Wyandot County Fair in Upper Sandusky, Ohio, in the evening.
Two pacing races and one trotting race were held at Montpelier.
Christina Johnson steered Rockin TJ to victory in the first pacing race with a mile in 2:04.1. Ann Russell found the winner’s circle with Don’tcallmefrancis in the second pacing split after a mile in 2:04.4.
Muscles For Life provided Lauren Harmon with a win in the series’ only trotting race of the 2024 season after touring the Montpelier oval in 2:07.2.
Johnson completed a three-win day by taking both of the pacing races at Upper Sandusky.
She came home ahead of the rest of the field with Boozer in the first division after covering the Wyandot County Fair twice-around in 1:56. Johnson came right back in the second division to pilot Black Tilly to a 1:58.4 winning time.
Johnson’s big day moved her into a tie with Mandy Jones in the season’s standings with both ladies currently having 445 points. Leslie Joyce completes the big year for the “three J’s” (Johnson, Jones, and Joyce) by holding down the third spot with 381 points.
The finals for the Spring Haven Farm Ladies Driving Series will be held on Tuesday (Sept. 17) at the Delaware County Fair in Delaware, Ohio, with eight ladies competing in a single race. Post time for the first race on Tuesday will be 1 p.m.
