Nichols, NY — Lady Saturn (Brett Crawford) captured the $12,500 feature for pacing fillies and mares on Thursday (July 30) at Tioga Downs.
Big favorite Ambushed (Braxten Boyd) brushed to the quarter in :27.4. She used a :29 second quarter to be first the half in :56.4. Lady Saturn ($11.08) made her move going first-up from fourth heading down the backstretch. Ambushed held a slight lead to three-quarters in 1:25.1.
As they made the turn for home, Lady Saturn wrestled the lead away, holding off a late charge by second-place finisher Illusion Seelster (Kyle Swift) to win in 1:53. Elegant A (Ridge Warren) was third best.
Lady Saturn is a 5-year-old mare by Huntsville. She is owned by Dragon Tales Farm and trained by Michelle Crawford. It was her second win of the season. She now has 15 lifetime victories.
Driver Braxten Boyd won five of the nine races on the card. The “Michigan Missile” was first with Escape The House, Filet Mignon, Pink Lumiere, Blue Point and Celia B Money.
