A 7-year-old trained by Mike Watson, Lady’s Image, the 7-2 second betting choice leaving from post position six in a field of eight, was able to take the lead as they rounded the first turn from Justlikehim.

On the backstretch, the mare was challenged for the lead by the first-over move of Jas Bluestone. But as they rounded the final turn, Jas Bluestone broke stride, and Lady’s Image, coaxed on by driver Tyler Buter, was able to gut it out in the lane, holding off fast-charging Stealing for the win by a neck in 1:56.1. Simon Got Lucky finished third.

The win was the fifth on the 2023 season for Lady’s Image in 19 tries. Owned by Clifford Grundy, she now has 26 career victories and lifetime earnings of $234,537.
