Yonkers, NY – Three-year-old trotting fillies were featured in a pair of New York Sire Stakes races on Tuesday night (August 25) at MGM Yonkers Raceway, and the winners were Lauren’s Chapter and My Philomene.

In the first $81,000 division, Flying Copper, driven by Ake Svanstedt, led to the quarter in :28.4 and the half in :59.1 before 1-9 favorite Lauren’s Chapter (Jordan Stratton) wheeled first-over out of third. Lauren’s Chapter advanced to battle with Flying Copper on the way to the 1:28.2 three-quarters, and their duel continued around the final bend before Lauren’s Chapter put away Flying Copper in the stretch en route to a two length triumph in 1:57.3. B Eyelash (Dan Dube) was up for second, followed by Jula Hot To Chill (Matt Kakaley).
Noel Daley trains Lauren’s Chapter, a daughter of Chapter Seven bred by Little E LLC. and Andy Miller Stable Inc., for owners Patricia Stables LLC., Allister Stables LLC., Caviart Farms and Sjoblom Racing & M. Dolan. Lauren’s Chapter has four wins, two seconds and three thirds from 18 career starts, has earned $203,894 and paid $2.34 to win. The exacta was worth $19.92 and there was no trifecta wagering available.
My Philomene (Trond Smedshammer) got to the front before the :27.3 quarter in the other $82,500 section, then yielded to Storybook Love (Todd Ratchford) after that marker. Storybook Love continued on the engine in middle-half fractions of :56.4 and 1:26.2 as Who Dares Wins (Svanstedt) made steady progress after she tipped out first-up from third. Late on the final bend, Storybook Love and Who Dares Wins made contact and both went off-stride – as Chant (Tyler Buter) and Sharp Seven (Jason Bartlett) did earlier in the mile – which allowed My Philomene to cruise to a 9-3/4 length victory in 1:55.3. Storybook Love was the runner-up and Who Dares Wins checked in third.
Also by Chapter Seven, My Philomene is trained by Smedshammer for owner Melady Enterprises LLC. My Philomene has a summary of 3-0-0 from nine efforts, has put away $82,582 and returned $19.16 to win as the second-longest price on the board at 8-1. She keyed a $57.38 exacta and a $92.36 trifecta.
One $20,000 New York Excelsior Series event was also held as a non-bettor and was won by Myths And Legends (by Chapter Seven and bred by Order By Stable Ab) from second-over in 1:57.3 for driver Matt Kakaley, trainer Marcus Melander and owner S R F Stable.
