Fort Washington, MD – Tribbett Racing’s Layton Hanover sustained an extended first-over grind before withstanding a pair of late challenges en route to a 1:51.3 win in Monday’s (Oct. 27) $12,000 Open Handicap Pace at Rosecroft Raceway.

In line to Roger Plante Jr., Layton Hanover landed in fourth behind a :26.3 first quarter before commencing his uncovered ascent into Winbak Willy T (driven by Lucas Myers) approaching the :54.4 half. The two dueled past three-quarters in 1:22.3 before Layton Hanover seized the lead turning for home, and the 6-year-old Captaintreacherous-Livin Life gelding narrowly held off a pair of closers in runner-up R N B Band (Trae Porter) and third-place finisher A Major Attitude (Justin Walters) to score his second consecutive win.
Andrew Fulton trains 23-time winner Layton Hanover, who paid $4.60 to win as the 6-5 favorite.
Eric Davis led all drivers with four wins on the 13-race card, teaming up with Katie Callahan trainees Jack Roger (1:53.4, $10.20) and R U Machin Me (1:54.4, $17.60), MacKenzie Kiel trainee Derby Dog Hanover (1:54, $5), and Janet Davis trainee Fast Chat (1:55, $4.20).
Live racing returns to Rosecroft on Thursday (Oct. 30); first post is 7:15 p.m. (EDT).
