Lexus Ranger takes fastest of Pocono features

Wilkes-Barre, PA — Lexus Ranger improved his record at Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania to three wins in four outings since arriving from The Meadows, winning the fastest of Tuesday’s (May 23) three $15,500 top-level claiming handicap trots at the mountain oval.

Lexus Ranger, an altered son of Archangel, made every pole a winning one for driver Jim Pantaleano, keeping pocket-sitting favorite Justlikehim 1-3/4 lengths at bay to the wire in a lifetime best 1:53.4. The three-for-four record of this horse recently extends to trainer Pierre Paradis and Elite Harness LLC, who acquired him on April 14.

Marcus Miller, whose five wins led all drivers on the card, took the other two co-featured events. Mushana, on a roll in this class with victories in three of his last four starts, braved an uncovered trip to win in 1:54.4 for trainer Steven Brabrook and owner Jaypaul Hoover. In the other cut, Miller, sitting second with favored Diehard Seelster, literally got a big break when the pacesetter broke turning for home, easily working through at the inside for a 1:54.3 lifetime best for trainer Marc Mosher and owner Jerry Zollo.

Racing at Pocono resumes on Saturday (May 27) with a 1 p.m. card, featuring a $25,000 Open Handicap Trot with On Higher Ground, whose 1:51.4 win in last week’s Open was the fastest trot mile of the meet to date, starting from the outside in a field of six. Program pages for all Pocono races are or will be available on the PHHA website.
