Vernon, NY — Driver Chris Long drove five winners Saturday (July 18) at Vernon Downs. The reinsman is currently in a tight battle with Jimmy Whittemore for second in the driver standings.
Long finished first with Keg Party, Super Sarah, Captain Catch, Gascoigne AC, and Vel Who Said. He is having another great season at the Miracle Mile, and is closing in on 4,500 career wins and $20 million in earnings.
Bluesville (Ron Harp) charged late to grab the $8,500 featured Open Pace timed in 1:52.4.

Galactic Storm (Whittemore) took control just before hitting the quarter first in :28 and used a :28.4 second quarter to lead the field to the half in :56.4. Although Galactic Storm paced the group to three quarters in 1:24.4, turning for home, Bluesville ($7.98) made his move first-up and grabbed the lead. Second-place finisher Primo Uomo (Jeff Gregory) came flying late, but Bluesville held the challenger at bay for the half-length victory. Galactic Storm faded to third.
Bluesville is a 7-year-old gelding by Huntsville. He is owned by the Big Sky Ranch and trained by Harp. Bluesville is now a three-time winner in 2026, with 28 career tallies on his record.
Vernon Downs returns to live racing on Sunday (July 19) with 14 stakes races featuring the $300,000 Grade 2 Zweig Memorial Open Trot for 3-year-olds with a special post time of 6:05 p.m.
