Longshot Esporanza Idole wins in France

Vincennes, FR — The Prix de Cornulier with a total purse money of 700,000 Euro at Vincennes, Paris, France was won by 22-1 shot, the 10-year-old mare Esperanza Idole with Jean-Yoann Ricart in the saddle.

You might know Hans Christian Andersen’s fairytale – the ugly Duckling?

This Sunday at Vincennes that was Esparanza Idole!

She had to overcome a traffic accident on the road to Vincennes from her stable in Normandy – the horsebox was damaged – it took an hour to get a new one. Her jockey had to be sown – 15 stitches.

But they made it to the racetrack in time.

Fast finishing on the outside Esparanza Idole and Jean-Yoann Ricart managed to catch long leading 70-1 Hirondelle du Rib to win the race – timed in 1:56.3 (mile rate).

Esparanza Idole took the winner’s purse of 315,000 Euro and has now earnings of 853,230 Euro.

She is by far the best foal out of the mare Fan Idole, who was one of the best trotters in the world 20-25 years ago.

Fan Idole took a mark of 1:52.2 and earned 2.2 mio. Euro.
