Dover, DE – Lyons Bettorday sat patiently along the pylons and roared to victory in the Mares Winners Over/Select Pace at Bally’s Dover on Wednesday (Feb. 14) night.

Southwind Icenfire, the 3/5 betting favorite, launched from post eight and led the field of pacing mares to the opening quarter in :27.2. Tae also left from the outside but settled in the pocket. Lyons Bettorday got away third. Southwind Icenfire controlled the pace as the field remained in single file reaching the half in :56.3, a :29.1 quarter. Southwind Icenfire continued on an uncontested lead passing the three-quarters in 1:24.4, a :28.1 quarter.

Lyons Bettorday maneuvered off the pylons approaching the top of the stretch. Tae remained in the pocket awaiting her cue. In the stretch, Southwind Icenfire’s lead started to evaporate. Lyons Bettorday drew alongside the pacesetter and powered to victory by a neck in 1:52.4 She paid $5.80 for the win.

Melody Hanover closed with a rush to finish second. Tae sat along the pylons and grabbed the show price. Tim Tetrick drove his sixth victory on the night.
