Harrington, DE – George and Tina Dennis’ Mack ($101.20, Jim Morand) sprung a 50-to-1 upset in the $17,000 featured Delaware Special Monday (April 14) on opening night of Harrington Raceway’s 79th season of live harness racing in 1:52.2.

The 8-year-old Mach Three gelding took advantage of a drifting favorite, Downers Delight, in the stretch and surged down the inside to win by a neck and foil the latter’s bid for a sixth straight win.
Mack, notched his 26th career win for trainer Joe Columbo and boosted his lifetime earnings to more than $621,000. Downers Delight set the pace before bearing out on the final turn and losing ground. Hundred Dollar Man finished third.
Montrell Teague had three wins on the opening card. Morand and Tony Morgan each had a pair of wins.
Live racing will continue on a Monday through Wednesday schedule (post time 4:30 p.m.).
